Ham's F12 Medium là một hỗn hợp dinh dưỡng được thiết kế để nuôi cấy nhiều loại tế bào động vật có vú và tế bào lai khi được sử dụng với huyết thanh kết hợp với hormone và transferrin. Kể từ đó, Môi trường F-12 của Ham đã được sử dụng để tăng trưởng nuôi cấy CHO không có huyết thanh cũng như tăng trưởng bổ sung huyết thanh của các tế bào động vật có vú khác, bao gồm tế bào sụn và tế bào biểu mô tuyến tiền liệt của chuột. So với các môi trường cơ bản khác, F-12 chứa nhiều loại thành phần hơn, bao gồm kẽm, putrescine, hypoxanthine và thymidine. Môi trường F-12 của Ham thường được kết hợp với huyết thanh bào thai bò (FBS, 10%) vì thành phần Môi trường F-12 của Ham không bao gồm các yếu tố tăng trưởng, protein, hormone hoặc lipid cần thiết để thúc đẩy sự phát triển của tế bào.

 Ham's F12 Medium is a nutrient mixture designed to cultivate a wide variety of mammalian and hybridoma cells when used with serum in combination with hormones and transferrin. Ham's F-12 Medium has since been used for serum-free growth of CHO cultures as well as serum-supplemented growth of other mammalian cells, including chondrocytes and rat prostate epithelial cells. Compared to other basal media, F-12 contains a wider variety of components, including zinc, putrescine, hypoxanthine, and thymidine. Ham's F-12 Medium is frequently combined with fetal bovine serum (FBS, 10%) as Ham's F-12 Medium composition does not include the growth factors, proteins, hormones, or lipids needed to promote cell growth.
